@DuppyAndLeave 3rd Event (Clash By Clash Review)

For the last few months, Platinum P Media and Scumfam member Ak have been putting on their own Sheffield based clash platform called "Duppy & Leave". You may remember previous posts from us from their last two events but if not check them out HERE

We are lucky to have every single clash from their recent third event and have reviewed the event clash by clash for you below! As each clash drops we will be adding it to its review for you to see

Hibbz Vs Venomz

First clash to drop is this naughty little clash between Nottingham's Hibbz and Sheffield based artist Venomz, both of which ive admittedly heard very little from although i am familiar with Hibbz via his affiliation with Setting Pace, Rhymes Galore and various Nottingham artists. From the very get go in round 1 these two artists both go for the jugular with no holding back.

Hibbz came on point with some good directs and a solid, twisting flow but Venomz scheme about the beef that kicked off at DC Studios at Luda & Aces birthday bash recently definitely had Hibbz sweating a bit. Throughout the clash i cant help but toss and turn between these two artists in regards to who took the victory and both artists should take this as a compliment.

Hibbz definitely had a great clash but i feel like he could of done without one or two minor chokes that he had through the rounds, don't get me wrong he didn't choke to the point of flopping but a few slight mistakes hear and there let him down on the day. Having said that though Hibbz traveled to a next mans area and clashed him in front of his home crowd so definitely gets my ratings for that.

By the end of the second round i still haven't made a 100% choice on who is in the lead but as round 3 kicks off Venomz starts on a pure violation. Obviously if your in the clashing scene you've got to take any bars that are given to you but that's exactly why i praise clashers for keeping their cool.

Hibbz seems to let his opponent get to him slightly towards the end of the clash, visibly showing his frustration but i honestly cannot choose between the two. This clash was a brilliant line up for the event and i personally scored it a draw, a heated rematch is definitely called for.

Milo Vs Skitz

This was the first clash of the day on the day of the event this line up, a match up between two Sheffield artists Milo and Skitz going in on 2 hiphop rounds and a final round over grime. I didn't find out until the end of the battle but Skitz was originally supposed to clash Medlei but when Medlei didn't show up, Milo stepped forward to freestyle clash him.

Milo comes out the starting gates blazing and sets the tone of the battle straight away. Despite slight issues with Skitz's microphone usage (his vocal projection is a tad on the poor side, making him difficult to hear at times) he flows over the riddim like a samurai heading into war but for me personally Milo's reckless but calculated style is a lot more entertaining to watch.

Personally this clash is only going in one direction for me at this stage and that's a win for Milo, his ballsy, funny and no fucks given attitude towards his opponent really does make for a good watch. Don't get it twisted, Skitz is deffinetly worth watching but feel he needs more of a suitable opponent as Milo's style is way too big and loud for Skitz to cope with in this clash.

In the final round as the grime beat begins, Skinz flops super hard (to his own admission he is a hiphop MC but the way he gave up without giving it a go gets no ratings from me personally) and the pair end up back on the hiphop beats. Milo takes this third round just as he did the two before it and takes home an easy win.

Creature Vs Statik

The last clash of the day is a tense one between Bradfords Statik and Sheffield based artist who's been about for a long while, Creature. From the opening blows this clash is definitely one for the die hard grime fans. Both artists come with decent flows and some hard content but round one could of gone another couple of 16s for me personally.

Into the second round and Creature has got into his stride now, spraying flames with some crazy personals and on point flow as usual. Statik fires straight back with equally sick direct bars and I can't help but think throughout how sick these two would sound on a set together. Creature ends the second round on a mad hype and for me steals the round right out of Statiks grasp.

Final round and in drops a disgusting riddim from Blatant as these two MC's go head to head once again to settle the clash. I can't fault Statik in this clash and I will deffinetly be checking him and his music out after this but on the day Creature was too much and for me takes all three rounds

Barzie Vs Chunk

This is one of the clashes on the card that I was most looking forward to, Chunk from Bradford went up against Sheffield's Barzie. Chunk starts off at a very high level of barring and comes with a very tight flow and direct bars and as expected Barzie comes with his usual hype but precise attack and already this is looking like a classic up north clash.

Barzie steps it up on his second set of bars drawing good reaction from his home crowd and ends round one on a high. As Barzie steps up to kick off round two I can only think that if Duppy And Leave are going to continue to put on events with line ups like this they are going to quickly become a reasonable force in grime clashing. Chunk has deffinetly gained a new fan in me after this clash as he comes with a lot of decent flows and as soon as he starts his Highlife scheme it gets instant recognition and feedback from the crowd.

After Barzie stole round one at the end, Chunk also steals a point at the end of the second so into the third they go and in my eyes it's equal scores at this point. Barzie starts the round on a hype, gunning from the very first syllable but just as the rest of the clash, Chunk comes straight back at him making this clash an absolute reload fest making me pause and reload throughout to catch sick bars a second and third time round.

Barzie goes into absolute gas mode for his last set of bars and along with his animated character, proves just why he is rated by people country wide. Chunk also smashes it final round and also shows that you can still have fun and laugh in a clash. I'm calling the last round a draw so personally over all neither artist could be separated from his opponent in this classic match up.

Mr Flo Vs Skelta

These two are both regulars on my timeline, with Wolverhampton based Skelta being an absolute grafter with varying styles from Grime to Drum and Bass and Mr Flo being one of the most under rated northern artists out there at the moment and this is proven by his recent clash confirmation against Future on WAW.

This clash is a special one as he first two rounds are grime with a final round ending the clash on drum & bass which is virtually unheard of on a clash platform such as Duppy And Leave. Flo kicks off the clash with some crazy personals and his trademark Icey flow but Skelta rises to the occasion, firing straight back with some funny bars and painfully aggressive digs. I have a lot of respect for the grind that Skelta puts in and rate him as an MC but for me personally Mr Flo is one the guys to beat right now in UK grime clashing and he proves this throughout as he whips the crowd into frenzied eruptions with every bar.

Skelta kicks off the second round with some absolute fire, a few of the bars even had me physically laughing and drawing for the rewind button to play it back. Mr Flo takes the mic seemingly u phased and absolutely kills it with a mad skippy flow and at this point of the clash both MC's are absolutely killing it, going back and forth with some brilliant clash material. Flo ends the round on a high for me but have to give the second round to Skelta on the come back.

At this point both MC's have won a round and as we go into the final round we go into the drum and bass round which could lead to Mr Flo coming unstuck as this is Skeltas territory right here. Skelta naturally kicks off on a mad man vibe drawing decent response from the crowd but as Mr Flo takes to the mic I'm super impressed with the way he rides the beat. The room looks like it's due to brake into a rave at any moment right now and as Skelta starts to spit again I'm really not sure who is going to take this final round. That thought is long gone as Mr Flo gets hold of the mic again and looks like he's thoroughly enjoying being out of his comfort zone. I've got to give a massive shout to both artists but personally feel as it was outside of his usual zones, Mr Flo took the final round making the final score 2 - 1 to Mr Flo.

Silence Vs Ricko

Doncaster resident Ricko goes up against Sheffield based Silence in the next one. Silence starts with a sick flow and some good bars but Ricko comes straight back with an equally skippy flow however he doesn't quite have the clarity that Silence has throughout his rounds. I feel that Ricko focused a bit too much on his flow for his rounds and not quite enough on his directness and content. Round one goes to Silence.

Round two Ricko comes with some better content but for some reason seems really awkward on the beat, not knowing him as an artist I feel like he naturally belongs on drum and bass or rave music with the skippy flow. Silence impresses me in this second round as he continues to drop some solid, slithering flows but with more clarity throughout his lyrics.

It's a bit of a shame that this is one of the shortest clashes as Silence just seems to be getting into his stride as we enter the third round. I don't want to seem like I'm hating on Ricko but I do feel sorry for him in this clash as I feel a lot of his content gets slept on purely because of how fast his flow is and I think Silence senses this and ends his bars with a madness. 3 - 0 to Silence in my opinion purely based on clarity and flow control.

Psolja Vs Ripsaw

I already know about the kinda of top class clashing and content that Psolja brings to a battle but I was extremely excited to see Ripsaw go at it as I've been listening to his stuff for longer than I can remember but until now was yet to hear him go at some one in a clash. Psolja towers over everyone in the room not only physically but bar wise too as he kicks off the clash but Ripsaw fires straight back with some good schemes and nice directs.

This clash isn't the type of clash you'd expect to see on a relatively new clash platform, in fact this is the calibre of clash you'd expect to see on the top platforms of UK grime clashing. Into the second clash and I've had to watch this clash a number of times now as I'm enjoying it so much that I keep forget I'm supposed to be reviewing it. Ripsaw gets huge reaction and a lot of laughs with his bar questioning Psoljas spelling of his name but as Psolja grabs the mic he does what any top flight clash artist does and shrugs it off to deliver some mad bars. Constantly back and forth, this clash is deffinetly the one that stands out the most from this events line up.

I'm not even gonna lie, going into the third round I've scored both rounds so far as a draw so if no one takes the lead in this final round it's looking to stay equal. Psolja steps it up a gear just as I wrote that and with his bar "Got an Ak the size of Ak" may of just sealed the victory, the scheme he's going in with on this round still kind of being slept on by the crowd though. Ripsaw ends the clash on a good flurry and I'm left confused who to give it to yet again, I'm going to say every single round was a draw and hope to see both of these artists back on the platform very soon.
